Asset Manager | Global Investment and Portfolio Management (Tokyo-based)

We are seeking a motivated Asset Manager to join a Tokyo-based private investment group expanding its overseas business. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals who aspire to gain hands-on management experience with portfolio companies across the ASEAN region — with the potential for future overseas assignments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the management of portfolio companies (primarily in Southeast Asia) as a non-executive director or similar role, alongside senior leadership.

  • Lead the formulation and execution of business plans, management improvement initiatives, and exit strategies to maximize investment performance.

  • Oversee portfolio company operations and report directly to the investment committee.

  • Support new investment sourcing by leveraging networks developed through asset management activities.

  • Collaborate with overseas offices and local management teams, communicating primarily in English.

What You Can Expect:
  • Gain real-world management experience by engaging directly with portfolio company executives.

  • Fast-track your decision-making and business leadership skills by handling multiple live projects.

  • Get involved in new M&A opportunities through portfolio company growth strategies.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Contribute to projects with social impact, such as regional revitalization and promoting the global deployment of Japanese capital.

  • Potential for overseas postings as your career develops.

Ideal Background:
  • 3–5 years of experience in corporate banking, investment banking, consulting, audit/accounting firms, corporate planning, or investment-related business.

  • Strong interest or experience in business turnaround, restructuring, or value creation.

  • Native-level Japanese fluency and business-level English proficiency (able to communicate with local teams abroad).

  • Bachelor's degree or above from a four-year university.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in lender management, solutions provision, or investment advisory roles.

  • CPA, tax accountant, or legal qualifications.

  • Background in strategic consulting or investment/M&A operations.

  • Practical exposure to post-merger integration (PMI) or business management at trading houses (Sogo Shosha).

  • International study or work experience.
