Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Payments Officer
to join this growing fund administration team in Japan. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the cash payment operational tasks of Special Purpose Companies (SPCs), ensuring compliance with local regulations, and supporting the broader investment management processes.
As a key member of the Payments team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions while maintaining a high standard of service to both internal and external stakeholders. You will develop deep expertise in payment operations, regulatory requirements, and risk management within Japan’s financial environment. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Processing Payments: Preparing, verifying, and executing client, investor, and vendor payments across multiple currencies and payment methods, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local banking regulations.
- Bank Liaison: Coordinating with relationship managers at Japanese and international banks to ensure efficient processing of transactions and issue resolution.
- Operational Efficiency & Risk Management: Ensuring all payment operations are conducted within SLAs and a strong control framework, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Billing & Reconciliation: Accurately recording billable time for client invoicing and performing daily reconciliation of financial transactions, including fees, capital movements, and investment funding.
- Process Improvement: Continuously reviewing workflows, identifying inefficiencies or risks, and implementing process enhancements to strengthen operational effectiveness.
- Project Participation: Assisting in strategic projects from scoping to execution, supporting the business in optimizing payment processes and adapting to regulatory changes in Japan.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Supporting management in tracking team performance, identifying training needs, and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Support: Managing team inboxes, responding to inquiries, and assisting in resolving payment-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
