About the Role
We are seeking a Director with over 10 years of experience in AML/CFT compliance and investor services to lead regional teams across Asia Pacific. Based in Singapore, this newly created position will oversee AML/CFT, transfer agency (TA), and investor services operations, while managing teams across various jurisdictions in the APAC region. The role reports to the Regional Head of Fund Services for Asia Pacific
The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert in AML, KYC, and transfer agency processes for open-ended hedge funds, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in Singapore, the Cayman, and other relevant jurisdictions. They will also drive strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and build a regional hub model.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence- Ensure regional processes, policies, and procedures align with relevant laws and regulations.
- Serve as the escalation point for compliance and operational challenges.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement adjustments as needed to maintain compliance and competitiveness.
- Monitor and manage risks related to AML/CFT and investor services operations.
- Lead, mentor, and manage regional teams to execute AML/CFT initiatives and investor services functions effectively.
- Provide guidance and training to enhance team capabilities and promote continuous improvement.
- Build a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to standardize operations and promote best practices.
- Oversee the implementation of a regional hub model with Singapore as the central base, while coordinating activities across jurisdictions.
- Develop action plans to address gaps or inefficiencies in processes and ensure operational excellence.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client escalations, providing expertise on AML/KYC and transfer agency matters.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for additional services and upselling.
- Represent the organization during meetings with global and regional stakeholders.
- Lead the separation of investor services and fund accounting operations to create specialized teams.
- Drive the growth of offshore teams for AML/KYC checks and other investor services tasks.
- Contribute to the development of a sustainable regional model to scale operations effectively.
Key Requirements
- Extensive experience in AML/CFT compliance, investor services, and transfer agency operations within financial services.
- Proven ability to manage regional teams across multiple jurisdictions and lead strategic initiatives.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, including MAS regulations, the VCC Act, the Cayman Private Fund Act, and Mutual Funds Act.
- Expertise in transfer agency tasks for open-ended hedge funds, including subscription and redemption procedures.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills.
- Experience working in large fund administrators or financial institutions is preferred.
