This company is a long/short hedge fund with a strong focus on Japanese equities and growing exposure across Asia, and seeking a motivated individual to join its trading desk as an Execution Trader. The trading desk plays a critical role in executing investment strategies efficiently to ensure timely executions while minimizing market impact.
This role provides comprehensive training and mentorship from experienced professionals, offering a clear pathway to develop expertise in trade execution while working directly with portfolio managers to support our investment strategies. The position may involve trading Japanese equities, global equities, or a combination of both, depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with portfolio managers, brokers, and fellow traders to ensure timely and accurate execution of equity/futures/custom basket trades across Japanese and/or global markets.
- Monitor risk limits to ensure that orders are executed within stipulated limits.
- Ensure compliance with investment guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor intraday market conditions and adjust execution strategies accordingly.
- Process and manage the return and borrowing of shares related to short selling.
- Assist in the application of IPOs/POs and management of certain corporate actions.
- Perform periodic reconciliation of various data sources on both OEMS and PMS.
- Prepare and provide monthly market analysis to investors.
- Participate in ad hoc projects to improve/implement automation into processes.
- Provide ad hoc assistance in risk management and marketing-related tasks.
Requirements
- Experience: 2 to 5 years in financial markets (trading, operations, or related field).
- Language: Fluent in English. No Japanese language requirement.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel is required. Experience with VBA, Python, and/or SQL will be considered favorably.
- Personal Qualities: Collaborative team player with strong multitasking abilities and resilience to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation
- Salary: SGD 6,000 per month and above, commensurate with experience.
